The Last of Us director believes that games like Bloodborne have weak storytelling

Despite not being the highest-rated or best-selling game on the PS4, a large portion of the PlayStation audience considers Bloodborne the best exclusive of the last generation. However, the creator of The Last of Us series believes that such games are not about the story despite the great effort put into their narratives.

In a very old interview that recently resurfaced, due to the continued demand for Bloodborne and Sony’s ongoing neglect, Neil Druckmann revealed that Souls games don’t heavily focus on the story, a perspective that may not align with many players.

The Naughty Dog leader explained:

For me, these games are not about the story as much as they are about the mood. It’s all about the constant tension that the world gives you, which is extremely unique in video games.

Druckmann expressed his feelings saying that this was his favorite game of 2015, yet he believes that the game doesn’t focus on the story, which is illogical. Games like Bloodborne have rich stories, especially for those who try to fully understand them, but they require a lot of digging and exploration and do not provide their details directly like other titles.

The players’ reaction to Druckmann’s comments was shocking, with many claiming that he may not have understood the story.
