Developer: Starfield 2 game will be amazing as Bethesda learns from its mistakes
Bethesda Game Studios has released its first new title in over 30 years with Starfield, a role-playing science fiction game that has not received as much acclaim as worlds like The Elder Scrolls and Fallout, but designer Bruce Nesmith believes that the game lays a strong foundation for future sequels.
Nesmith, who left Bethesda in 2021 to write books like Mischief Maker and Glory Seeker, told VideoGamer that the release of Starfield is similar to the debut of Mass Effect or Assassin’s Creed, where the first installment faces criticism but reaches new heights in subsequent parts.
He continued:
When we built Skyrim, we had a huge advantage from Oblivion, which had a huge advantage from Morrowind. All we had to do was continue to improve and add new things. We didn’t have to start from scratch. If we had to start from scratch, it would have taken two or three more years of development time.
I look forward to Starfield 2. I think it will be a great game because it will address many of the issues that players talk about, the game will be able to take what is currently there and add a lot of new things and fix a lot of these problems.
Considering that The Elder Scrolls 6 was teased in 2018 and has not been extensively revealed yet, and Bethesda moving on to work on Fallout 5 expected to release in 2030, it seems that Starfield 2 will not see the light of day for at least 10 years from now.
