YouTube Music app allows users to customize playlist covers using artificial intelligence

YouTube Music app has announced a new feature that allows users to create artwork using artificial intelligence to design custom thumbnails for playlists. However, it seems that the app may soon enable users to upload a custom image themselves.

A user discovered a new pencil-shaped icon in the bottom right corner of the artwork when displaying a playlist on music.youtube.com. This icon gives users two options: “Select from library” and “Remove custom image.”

Through the first option, users can select an image from their devices and crop it to become a thumbnail. After making this modification, the playlist page is instantly updated to show the new background.

This feature is one of the most anticipated features by many YouTube Music users, as the ability to customize their music library enhances the user experience. If no AI-generated artwork is used, the default setting will display a grid of albums, which is often unclear.

However, the question remains about customizing artwork for favorite music playlists, as there is currently no AI generator available for that.

It is important to note that as of last August, the YouTube Music team was not working on supporting uploads of custom images. So far, there have been no reports indicating the availability of this feature related to playlist thumbnails.
