WhatsApp usage increased by 41% in the beginning of 2022, and these are the reasons.
While it may seem like WhatsApp has reached its limit of active accounts, the truth is that its usage has increased significantly in the early months of 2022 according to a recent research study.
It seems that user engagement on WhatsApp has significantly increased in the first quarter of 2022, with a 41% increase in user engagement during that time period, according to data from Sensor Tower analysis company.
They attribute WhatsApp’s growth in these months to the massive number of advanced users who use the platform daily, with the study showing that this user demographic accounts for 55% of the app’s monthly average in this first quarter.
Specifically, users aged 18-34 are a significant part of this growth, also showing increased usage of other Meta apps like Facebook and Instagram.
The stunning increase in WhatsApp usage and other apps is attributed to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, where many people are using the app more frequently than before to communicate securely.
The next app that saw a significant increase in monthly user interaction was Line with a 45% increase in the first quarter, followed by Facebook Messenger at 16.4%.
While Meta already has the largest market share in the US among all its apps, it faces increasing competition from the rise of Telegram, which consistently introduces major improvements ahead of any other app.
