WhatsApp prepares to release two exclusive features for iPhone users

WhatsApp beta users on iOS are already enjoying some new features related to notifications, making it more complete in all aspects.

WhatsApp messaging platform features two different functions:

– Profile pictures will appear in notifications. For those using version 2.22.1.1 beta on iOS 15 or higher. This way, when we receive messages from chats and groups, we will see the sender’s profile picture directly in the notification, without the need to click on it.

– Information will be shown in notifications when someone mentions or replies to us in a group. For those participating in the TestFlight beta program in version 22.1.71. This information will only appear in notifications when someone mentions us or replies to a message we placed in a group, it has not been enabled for individual chats.

We will see these new features in different updates, after redesigning the contact info page, which they are also working on. The updated contact info page may also include a custom search shortcut. Unfortunately, this will only be for the iOS system, and they have not said anything about this feature for Android users yet.

WhatsApp is still the most widely used messaging app in the world, but it will need to work hard to prevent alternatives like Telegram from competing. New features like one-way channels and media will greatly help, and provide more peace of mind regarding data privacy for the general public.
