What is Google’s new operating system “Fuchsia”?

When you hear the word operating system, famous operating systems like Windows, Linux, macOS for computers, Android and iPhone for smartphones come to mind. Until recently, there were no other well-known operating systems, but it is believed that a new operating system has emerged which is expected to gain popularity. This system is Fuchsia, the new operating system from Google, which the company has been working on for some time. We are now witnessing the release of the first versions of it on Google Pixelbook devices, so we will try to learn more about this system.

After Google’s Fuchsia operating system was surrounded by secrecy, most of the news were just leaks or analyses of the system’s code posted on Github. However, a few days ago, a foreign website published images of the Fuchsia operating system, so we will try to provide an initial impression of this system since it was first revealed last year. It should be noted that Google already owns two operating systems, Android for smartphones and Chrome OS, both based on the Linux kernel. So, Google is working on launching a completely new operating system, Fuchsia, based on a new kernel called Magenta developed by Google, which will be open-source.

This new system works with Modules and Stories, unlike Windows which uses Views. Modules are managed through the Modular system responsible for running these modules. In this system, applications are modules, representing the commands and actions users perform while using the operating system. This means you can run the same program or application multiple times at the same time in different windows, unlike Windows which sometimes informs you that the program is already running.

Google recommends installing the system through USB, but this is currently quite challenging as the system is still in development. Among the new features you can learn about is the system’s stylish graphical interface when it boots up. If you want to log in, you will need to log in with your Google account. The Google search bar will be present, designed to search for applications on the system. The main interface also includes the time, date, and your IP address. By pressing a single button, you can switch the display system from computer operating system to smartphone operating system. You can also view the system’s source code as it is open-source.

One important feature of this system is its support for Multi Screen feature, similar to that on smartphones, allowing you to open multiple programs with each having its own dedicated window. You can arrange them as you wish and control them all at the same time. Based on the second paragraph, you can open one application in multiple windows, each separate from the other. However, the system’s app support is still not good, as there are not many working applications and even those that work face some problems during usage. Despite being under development, the system was somewhat fast, but ultimately, the user experience is still quite challenging. A final judgment on the system cannot be made as Google has not officially announced it yet. Share your thoughts on these features and whether this system could dominate devices in the future.
