We’ve just laid eyes on this crazy fast gaming phone
Asus has always been good at making its devices look and feel “gamer”. Just take a look at the ROG Phone 8 series, with its LED lights, Republic of Gamers branding, and somewhat flashy logos. We’ve now had a first look at the ROG Phone 9 – at least its images – along with some details on what’s happening under the hood.
Website 91Mobiles leaked presentations of the ROG Phone 9 series along with more information. It is expected to have two different models: the Asus ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro, both powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
We are relatively sure that the standard and Pro models share the same design. The presentations also show that the ROG Phone 9 Pro comes with the AeroActive Cooler X accessory, which helps improve airflow and cooling during gaming sessions. The images do not clarify if the accessory is the same cooler present in the 9 phone, or if the Pro has an upgraded version.
Both phones seem to feature the same hole-punch front camera, as well as a triple camera setup on the back. As for specifications, the ROG Phone 9 is expected to have a 6.78-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is rumored to launch with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage (a truly astronomical amount for a phone), along with a 50MP primary camera, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 32MP zoom lens. The front camera is also 32MP.
The ROG Phone 9 is also expected to have a 5800mAh battery capacity and support 65W charging. If this sounds like absolute power for a phone, that’s because it is. The specifications put other flagship models to shame, although this phone lacks some additional features that a device like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra may have. We’re not entirely sure how (or if) artificial intelligence will be included, but Asus has teased some features that hint at gaming-related AI.
However, we won’t have to wait long for more details. The ROG Phone 9 series is scheduled to launch on November 19th.
