Valve will not release Steam Deck 2 until they find a real leap for the next generation.

Valve did not hesitate to talk about the Steam Deck 2 at all, and after its successful first experience in the field of portable gaming devices, the company became more enthusiastic than ever to find bigger technological leaps for the industry. However, Valve does not want to fall into the trap of useless repetitive upgrades.

In their conversation with Reviews.org, the designers of the Steam Deck, Lawrence Yang and Wizan Al-Dehiyat, discussed the successor to the hybrid platform. Lawrence confirmed that Valve is not interested in annual release cycles, and the company intends to make a real generational leap in its next platform. They are currently moving towards achieving this goal in the forefront of development.

Valve also hopes to achieve a balance between performance and efficiency, as Lawrence continued:

We want to achieve a generational leap in computing without sacrificing battery life.

The giant gaming company previously confirmed that their next mobile device will not arrive before late 2025, and with the continued strength of the original device and the OLED model being a more tempting purchase, it is clear that the company is not in a hurry to release the new device.
