Using Google Chrome on Windows 11 will be more difficult than ever before.

Microsoft has realized that no one is using Edge on Windows 10. So, they developed a new version from scratch based on Chromium. The operating system currently provides “recommendations” for using with the new Edge, but it allows you to change the default browser in Windows without much difficulty, as we can choose to use the default browser with a few clicks.

With Windows 11, the situation changes drastically. Microsoft has changed how applications are defined by default. Now, when we open a link, the operating system asks us for the first time about the browser we want to use. If we give Edge once, the operating system will not ask us that again. Changing the browser becomes a real mess.

And if we want to change the default browser, we now have to change the programs that open each format one by one. This means choosing Chrome for all formats HTM, HTML, PDF, SHTML, SVG, WEBP, XHT, XHTML, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS one by one.

Browser developers such as Vivaldi, Firefox, and Opera are concerned about this behavior in Windows 11. From Chrome, they hope that this behavior is only related to the Windows 11 developer version, and that the final version of Windows 11 includes a simple mechanism to change the browser in a similar way to that in Windows 10.
