Using Android phone fingerprint to login to the computer

Adding a fingerprint sensor to mobile phones has had a significant impact on increasing security while ensuring ease of use. Nowadays, almost every mobile phone comes with a fingerprint sensor, which used to be considered a new additional feature a few years ago. It is still one of the most popular ways to secure access to a mobile phone, despite the invention of new methods like Face ID, due to its high level of protection and user-friendliness. In the world of laptops, we see a shy spread of such an important feature, with some devices having a built-in fingerprint sensor.

Some companies provide independent fingerprint sensors that connect to the computer via USB and can be used with all computers that support Windows Hello feature. In this article, we provide a simple and inexpensive solution for logging into Windows using a fingerprint. You don’t need to have a built-in fingerprint on your device (which is still rare in the world of laptops), nor do you need Windows Hello support (meaning you can use it with any device), and you don’t need to purchase any additional accessories.

All you need is to have a fingerprint sensor in your Android mobile and get the Remote Finger Print Unlock program from this link.
First, install the program on your computer. During installation, you will receive a message asking for permission to modify your Firewall settings to allow the program to exchange TCP/UDP messages with your mobile. You can press OK for the program to make the required adjustments automatically, or you can manually adjust it in Firewall settings after installation.

After installing the program and clicking Finish, go to the Android device you will use to log into Windows and install Remote Finger Print Unlock from Google Play Store.
Now, we will set up the program to establish a connection between the computer and the mobile device. Remote Finger Print Unlock uses either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi for this connection, and in this explanation, we will use Bluetooth connectivity.

First, you need to connect your computer to the mobile device via Bluetooth. To do this, go to Windows Settings, then Devices, and press Add Bluetooth or other devices.
A list will appear with available Bluetooth devices near you. Click on the name of your Android mobile device to connect it to your computer. Both your computer and mobile will receive a connection confirmation message with the same number. Press Connect on the computer and OK on the mobile to establish the desired connection.
Now, before proceeding with any further steps, lock Windows by pressing (Win + L) so that the Remote Finger Print Unlock program can establish the initial connection.
From your mobile device, open Remote Finger Print Unlock that you previously installed to find the following window and press scan.
You will be taken to the Scan tab, where you will search for your computer. Since we are using Bluetooth connection in this explanation, press By Bluetooth.
The name of the computer you connected to using Bluetooth will appear directly in front of you, simply click on its name and then on Connect:
After establishing the connection, you will need to add your account that the Remote Finger Print Unlock program will use to log into Windows. Press on Accounts:
Now, we have automatically moved to the Accounts tab, click on the three dots next to your computer’s name and then on Add Account:

In the next window, you will need to add your login account for your computer and its password, then place your finger on the fingerprint sensor to verify your fingerprint. This brings us to the final step, ensuring the connection is established, press Proceed and the process will be completed.

Now, when you go to the Unlock tab and place your finger on the fingerprint sensor, you will find that the computer has responded and logged into Windows:
Next time you want to log into Windows, simply open the Remote Finger Print Unlock program on your Android mobile and place your finger on the fingerprint sensor.
Note: If you want to use Wi-Fi connection between your computer and Android mobile instead of Bluetooth, make sure first that your mobile and computer are connected to the same network, then repeat the same steps above after selecting By Scanning instead of By Bluetooth in the scan tab:

Note: You can add more than one username and password if you have multiple accounts on the same computer, allowing you to log in to any of them using just your fingerprint. You can also link the program to more than one computer to control logging in to all your computers from one place. However, these features require getting the paid version (Pro) of the program on Android at a low cost ($2.49).
