Upgrading the graphics card in my computer to RTX 2060

As you already know, I’m not a gamer, but I am a fan of FIFA 19 and the FIFA series in general. This is what made me, when I upgraded my computer and added a high-speed NVMe hard drive in the past, I decided not to upgrade the graphics card and keep the current one without any changes. However, today, after the release of the RTX 2060 graphics card, which offers excellent performance at a price of $350 / 8200 Egyptian pounds, which is a good price compared to other cards in the same category, I think it’s time for a change. The card arrived to me in the Founder Edition version with its beautiful design and excellent performance from NVIDIA. Let me present to you the complete upgrade experience inside the computer, along with the modern technical features used in the card.

In the beginning, the RTX 2060 card arrived to me two days ago, and as soon as the card arrived, I couldn’t resist the urge to install it. The design of the card is very good, and the metal backplate of the card will help dissipate the heat generated by the card during operation, handle excess electricity, and provide higher durability for the card. This is aside from NVIDIA’s modern technologies in the card that I want to try out and present to you.

I already installed the card immediately, but I was faced with a problem, which is that my power supply does not have an 8-pin PCIe cable, only a 6-pin cable. Therefore, I couldn’t start the card, which led me to change the power supply and buy another more professional one and install it in my computer. After that, I installed the cable, connected the PCIe cable to the port on the card, then went to NVIDIA’s website, entered the drivers section, and downloaded the latest driver for the card from NVIDIA to get the best performance so far for the card. The card comes with two Display Port ports, one HDMI port, one DVI port, and also a USB Type port. The card’s cooling system is good, with advanced fans and slots to allow hot air to be expelled from the back side. As for the look of the card, green is the dominant color as usual.

The RTX 2060 card comes with the new Turing architecture and 6 GB of DDR6 memory, the latest from NVIDIA, which is known for its high speed. It requires 160 watts of power and features NVIDIA’s revolutionary RTX technologies such as Ray Tracing and DLSS. These technologies are explained simply as follows:

  • Ray Tracing Technology – It is a technology that simulates the way light behaves in real life to give a very realistic appearance inside games and to show more realistic shadows and lighting.
  • DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) Technology – It is a technology that uses deep learning and artificial intelligence to train the graphics card to display clear images with smoother edges for objects in games and better performance.

Notice the image below that shows modern games and the best performing cards at different screen resolutions. For example, DOTA 2 runs on RTX 2060 with the best performance possible at 4K quality, while Battlefield V runs with the best performance on RTX 2060 card, but at a maximum of 2K quality.

Certainly, the card offers excellent technologies in a price range that I can’t say is affordable to everyone, but it is suitable for average setups in general. What I want to clarify is that what you get for $350 for this card is more than wonderful, as you will get the latest technologies and at the same time the latest architecture and DDR6 memory. In the upcoming topics, I will conduct tests on the card and other details, God willing, after I have the opportunity to spend more time with the card and complete my experience with it.
