Uncovering the Major Enhancements in the Remastered Series Legacy of Kain
It has been a few months since Crystal Dynamics revealed their work on a remaster of their beloved classic dark fantasy adventure series, Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver, with its first and second parts.
Now, the developer of the modified remaster, Aspyr, has discussed details of some of the enhancements that the new version will bring, and all the latest information about it, as the release of the remastered collection of the mentioned classic games is approaching in December, with the first part released in 1999.
All of this comes to light through a post on PlayStation’s blog, which mostly focuses on showcasing and reviewing game bosses, so you may want to steer clear of watching the post and the teaser video below to avoid any spoilers, especially if you are a new player to the series or old players who have forgotten everything over the 25 years since the original parts of the Soul Reaver series were launched.
It has been confirmed that the remastered versions will have redesigned character visuals, rebuilt game visuals and textures, or perhaps the main focus will be on redesigning and improving the appearance of the original bosses, as well as a “completely redesigned” model for the antagonist Kain, to make him closely resemble his appearance in the cinematic scenes in the game.
Aspyr has also now confirmed a number of other new features, where both games will now include a map and compass during gameplay, to fulfill the studio’s desire to blend modern helpful and convenient means in the game with maintaining the classic exploratory experience that the original titles were known for.
The compass will ambiguously push players in the correct direction without revealing specific details about the place they should head to, while the map is described as more of a reference tool rather than a guide to navigate through the game world, in addition, there will be a grouping tracking tool to indicate whether players have found all the collectibles and items in each area.
Old players will also be able to switch between two different graphic modes, to see the redesigned visual elements or view the original polygonal classic visuals, and they will also be able to turn off the compass in the settings menu.
