Try out 3 new PS Plus games this weekend (October 25-27)

Halloween is next week, so you should get into the spooky mood by playing some scary games. Fortunately, many horror titles have arrived in the PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra games catalog this month. From horror classics for PS1 and PS2 to newer games with more modern stories and choice-driven gameplay mechanics that suit you, PS Plus subscribers will have plenty to choose from when looking for something to play this weekend. Here are three new features that fit the bill.

Dino Crisis

Gameplay | September 24, 2024 (English)

While Resident Evil is Capcom’s leading survival horror game series, it’s not the only one they released. There was also Dino Crisis, a horror game that swapped zombies for dinosaurs. Although this series ended after three games and faded into obscurity, Capcom has finally acknowledged it again by re-releasing the first game on PS Plus. I’m glad they did, as the game deserves a reevaluation in 2024. If you can get used to the old control scheme and menu design, you have a truly cinematic and thrilling horror game that deserves more love than it gets. If you’ve never tried Dino Crisis before, this Halloween gives you the perfect opportunity to do so. Dino Crisis is available on PS4 and PS5 as part of the PS Plus Premium Classics catalog.

Siren

Siren – Gameplay Trailer 1 | PS2 on PS4

Siren is a spooky horror game that requires a lot of daring twists. Narratively, it tells its story non-linearly through 10 characters and three days. Most of the gameplay revolves around a mechanic called “Sightjacking”, which allows players to possess enemies to hear and see what they are doing. It’s a good primer for Slitherhead a new game from the Siren director coming out next month. Siren was already part of the PS Plus Premium catalog artistically, but Sony updated its PS2 emulator to add new features like bringing back the gameplay and quick save. They are now updating previously released PS2 games to support it, Siren being the first. We hope more will follow suit. Siren is available on PS4 and PS5 through the PS Plus Premium subscription.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me

The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me – Official Launch Trailer | PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4

Have you checked out Sony’s Until Dawn new edition that dropped earlier this month? Although that didn’t come to PS Plus this month, another horror game based on choice from developer Supermassive Games has emerged. The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me follows a documentary film crew visiting a remote island to investigate a replica version of “Murder Castle” by the infamous Holmes. And of course, things go south, and the crew begins to be hunted. Depending on the player’s choices, these characters can live or die. It doesn’t radically reinvent the narrative horror adventure formula that Supermassive led, but it’s still enjoyable in this genre through a plot focused on the actions of a real-life serial killer. The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me is now part of the PS Plus Extra games catalog. It is also available on PC and Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
