The typical way provided by Google to switch between accounts with a single click is a great idea that allows you to synchronize your contacts on different accounts simply and quickly so that you can retrieve them again from any of your accounts when you decide to reset your phone or switch to a new Android phone. All you have to do is click on the icon of your account picture from the top of the main interface and then switch between your Google accounts.
2- Changing the way contacts are displayed
The Google Contacts app allows you to view your contacts in two different ways: the first way, which is based on sorting contacts by first name and last name, is the default way. While the second way is to sort contacts according to displaying the last name first and then the first name.
It is a great way because it allows you to view family names instead of friends’ names, especially if you have many friends with the same name. To change the sorting method of the name, click on the three horizontal bars at the top, then choose Settings, then in front of the Sort By tab and Name order, you can choose the last name.
3- Adding a contact to the Home Screen as a shortcut
If you often call a certain person from your family or friends, you can add a shortcut for their name on the home screen so you can call them quickly by simply clicking on the shortcut without having to open the contacts app or call log. To do this, from the contacts app, open the contact you want to add to the home screen, then click on the three vertical dots at the top left, then choose from the dropdown menu the third option “Add to Home Screen”. Immediately, you will find a shortcut for their name on the phone’s home screen.
4- Setting a custom ringtone for specific contacts
If you want to set a custom ringtone for one of your contacts so that you know when they are calling, simply open the contact you want, then click on the three vertical dots at the top left and from the dropdown menu choose “Set ringtone”, then you will be asked to choose the path of ringtone on your phone and easily you can search for ringtones and music on your phone and choose the sound clip you want.
5- Setting photos for contacts
Simply add photos of your contacts if their photos are available on your phone, and in this way, when they call you, their photos will appear full screen. Choose the contact, and at the bottom click on the blue edit icon, then click on the camera icon in the middle of the page, then choose the path where you store the image of your friend.
6- Creating a category for groups
Through the contacts app, you can create comprehensive groups for your family members or friends, this feature allows you to send one message to all of them at the same time without having to contact them individually. To create a comprehensive group, click on the three bars at the top on the main screen of the contacts app, then choose “Create category” from the menu, then write the name of the category whether it is family, friends, work colleagues, or any title you want, then click on Add contact, now you can go back to the main screen of the contacts app, then click on any contact you want to add to the category, and then click on the three dots at the top left and choose Add to category.
But you will feel relieved afterwards, you can now open a category and click on the three bars at the top and choose to send an email or text message once to all contacts inside the category.
7- Moving contacts to another account
Often, you may need to add or move your contacts that you have saved on one account to another account. To move any contact, long press on the contact from the main screen of the app – you can select all or select more of your contacts together, once you finish selecting your contacts, click on the three dots at the top and choose from the dropdown menu “Move to another account”. Now you can move the contacts you have selected to your other accounts on Google.
