Trick to Enable Dark Mode on WhatsApp Before its Official Release

The dark mode feature came as a default at the system level, taking a step forward in terms of this important and truly useful feature for eye safety, battery consumption reduction, and the beautiful black color aesthetic. However, there is one application that did not support the dark mode, which is WhatsApp, the most downloaded and used application. If you are an Android user and cannot wait for the official release of the dark mode, here is a way to try out the dark mode.

First, your phone must have root permissions because we will need it to modify some system files.
Second, download a file browsing application that supports browsing system files like Solid Explorer and you can download it from the link below the post.
After installing the application, go to the following path:
data/data/com.whatsapp/shared_prefs
Then open the following file com.whatsapp_preferences.xml
Then add the following line at the end of the file and before the word <map>
<boolean name = “dark_mode” value = “true” /> as shown in the image

After making the necessary changes as explained above, go directly to the WhatsApp application and then open its settings where you will finally see the Theme tab and choose the dark theme with the automatic theme option, and you will see the dark mode applied to the home screen, chat interface, settings interface, and status screen.

If the feature does not work after applying these steps, restart the phone and it will work well.
