Top Phone Companies in 2020 and Their Best Sellers
According to a statement from the global organization IDC for tracking the smartphone market, the market witnessed a recovery in smartphone sales during the third quarter by the end of October, with a 1.3% decline on an annual basis. A total of 353.6 million phones were shipped during the third quarter of 2020, which was stronger than IDC’s expectations, which predicted a sharp decline of up to 9% annually. This was a result of the reopening of markets, the recovery of global economies, and the return of sales activity after the easing of restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic in recent times.
Some major markets recovered from the congestion they experienced at the beginning of the pandemic, with India becoming the second largest smartphone market in the world. Other emerging markets like Brazil, Indonesia, and Russia also witnessed strong growth, ranking fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively.
Samsung Takes the Lead
At first glance at the data analysis, it appears that Samsung regained the top spot from Huawei to become the top-selling smartphone company during the third quarter of 2020. Xiaomi also managed to climb back to third place, surpassing the American giant who settled for fourth place during this quarter. Despite the recovery seen in the smartphone market by the end of October, it was much lower compared to previous years.
