Tips to prolong the lifespan of hardware components in a computer

Wouldn’t it be ideal if you bought a new computer with good specs to last you a lifetime? Unfortunately, that dream doesn’t exist. Why? Simply because every component in a computer has a lifespan, and once that period is surpassed, the device starts losing the performance you initially enjoyed.
And of course, the expected lifespan is logical for everything in life. There are other reasons too, one being to push and guide users to buy a new device with the latest specs to achieve commercial and financial benefit for the manufacturers, like in the case of smart devices. However, replacing the device can be costly and sometimes impossible, so maximizing the benefit from each component is crucial through the following tips.

1. Motherboard

Before diving into the tips, it is essential to understand the reasons leading to the decreased lifespan of each component. Why does the motherboard’s performance decline? Despite not having moving parts, motherboards are highly complex and sensitive in their designs. As a pivotal point for all other components in your system, even minor faults can have catastrophic effects.
Measuring the lifespan of a motherboard is also challenging, as it is nearly impossible to calculate individual user habits and local environments. The major reason for motherboard failure is the degradation and wear of capacitors over time. Sometimes, capacitors leak, leading to damage to other hardware components. It is possible to replace a capacitor, but if there is an impact on other parts, it becomes complicated.
Therefore, it is advised to keep the device away from environmental risks like excess moisture or dry air. Excessive heat can also distort the motherboard, causing various issues. Try not to handle the motherboard frequently, especially when replacing components, as it is highly sensitive.
