Three Things We Do Online That May Cause Our Devices to Be Hacked

With the widespread use of the internet by everyone nowadays, I believe that we are living in the best era for hackers. Nowadays, hackers can access a large number of people, especially at a time when everyone is using the internet. It is worth mentioning that most internet users have become more knowledgeable and experienced enough not to be easily deceived by simple methods such as email containing malicious links. Certainly, hackers have not stopped but have evolved to become smarter and more capable of hiding, bringing back many tricks that most internet users are not aware of today. So today we will talk about three things we do on the internet in our daily lives that may lead to hacking our devices and infecting them with malware without us noticing.

Certainly, what we do on the internet every day is the direct reason for infecting our devices with malicious software, as hackers predict the type of activities most internet users engage in to set traps for them while they are engaged in them. Here are three things you should pay attention to while using the internet:

1- Copy and Paste from Websites on the Internet:

Copying text from the internet and pasting it may seem harmless, but many people use the internet to take commands from the command prompt in Windows due to the large number and difficulty of remembering them. However, by copying these commands from the internet and pasting them into the command prompt for execution, they may end up executing a different action than intended because the command may change once pasted into the command prompt. This is known as “Pastejacking.” If you must do this, you should first paste the commands into a text editor, then copy them from there to avoid unintentional execution. We have discussed this in detail in another article, which you can benefit from.

2- Fake Download Buttons:

One of the things that internet users struggle with while downloading content is fake download buttons. When you visit a download page, you may see multiple buttons labeled “Download Now,” leaving most users confused about which button is genuine and putting them at risk of clicking on a button containing malicious software. To protect yourself from this, you can refer to a guide that helps you ensure the authenticity of the download button.

3- Links from Friends on Social Media:

In today’s world, almost everyone uses social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, and everyone has friends they trust on these platforms. If a friend sends you a link with instructions to view its content, you would likely click on it assuming your close friend wouldn’t compromise your device. However, many people are unaware that the link may not have been sent by their friend but rather through their account without their consent, as they were deceived somehow to allow the posting of links through their account via untrustworthy apps and more.
In conclusion, these are some things to pay attention to while using the internet to avoid falling victim to hacking, which could result in data loss, privacy breach, or device issues.
