The people at Electronics Hub analyzed repair evidence available on iFixit for 228 different mobile phones. In this way, they discovered which are the easiest Android phones to repair currently, as well as the average time required to repair each one. On the other hand, it also helped them discover smartphones that have more complex repairs by the user.
The study concluded that the Motorola Moto G7 is the easiest Android smartphone to repair currently, with 50% of its repairs being easy to execute and requiring little time for repair, only 25 minutes on average. In second place is the Samsung Galaxy A40, with 42.9% of repairs being reasonably priced for the user and an average of 32.6 minutes per repair.
The top three spots were rounded out by another Samsung phone, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G. According to research conducted by Electronics Hub, 33.3% of repairs for this phone are easy to execute. Additionally, the user will need an average of 48.1 minutes for each repair. In the top ten, we find smartphones from other brands, such as several iPhone devices and two POCO mobile phones.
On the other side of the study, there is the Google Pixel 7, the most complex mobile phone to repair. 100% of its repairs are complex and require 60.3 minutes for each process. In this list, we also find Samsung Galaxy Note 10, Redmi Note 11 Pro, Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, and Samsung Galaxy A72, with 100% complexity in repairs for the user.
Asus can be proud to have the easiest devices to repair currently, whether for simplicity of arrangements or for the time required for each procedure. On the other hand, there is Sony, with the most difficult smartphones to repair currently. Additionally, the research also indicates that the repairability of Google Pixel mobile phones has worsened in recent years, making it increasingly difficult to repair their smartphones at home.
