The Secret Predator Movie? Alien Creature: Romulus Sequel? Twentieth Century Studio Head Envisions the Future

Fans of the Predator franchise won’t just be getting one new movie in 2025.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Twentieth Century Studios president Steve Asbell revealed the future plans for the Predator film series, including a new installment in the Predator film series. Victim director Dan Trachtenberg. Instead of making Prey 2, Trachtenberg led Predator: The Roughlands, a new entry in the franchise starring Elle Fanning.

“After Victim proved successful, Dan (Trachtenberg) came back and said he didn’t want to do Prey 2,” Asbell said. “We said, ‘What do you want to do?’ And he threw out a bunch of ideas that were really crazy but really great. We’ve already done two of them. Two are coming out next year. One I can’t talk about yet, but the other is the direct Predator film with Elle Fanning which just wrapped in New Zealand. It will be theatrically released at some point next year.

Secrets of the Second Predator Film

Earlier this week, Disney removed Code from its release date of November 7, 2025, and replaced it with Predator: The Roughlands. Trachtenberg is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with Patrick Aison. After the praise The Roughlands received, Asbell dropped the bomb Trachtenberg filmed for a secret Predator film that will be released before The Roughlands. However, Asbell did not reveal any details other than the fact that it will be released somehow next year.

What Comes After Alien: Romulus?

Switching gears, Asbell discussed the Alien franchise and its success Alien: Romulus, which grossed over $350 million worldwide last summer. With such box office success, supplemental conversations are always spreading. Asbell confirmed that 20th Century Studios is working on a sequel and believes it will happen once a deal is struck with Romulus director Fede Alvarez.

And Asbell explained: “He (Alvarez) has an idea we’re working on.” The survivors Ryan and Andy, played by Kylie Spain and David Johnson, were standout characters in the film. So I always think like, “Great, where do people want to see them go next?” We know there will be aliens. We know there will be fantastic horror scenes. But I fell in love with both of them and want to see what their story is.”
