The penguin could lead to more villainous appearances in Batman’s shows.
We all hoped that HBO’s Penguin would be good, but did anyone expect it to be this good? The people behind the scenes did it, and now, with the show’s success, it may just be the beginning of Batman villains appearing on the HBO network.
“I can tell you this, we love being able to do more. But I can also tell you that we are already talking to HBO about (more).” “The opportunity to be able to go and explore characters that you wouldn’t be able to own these kinds of properties creatively on HBO, as we did with Oz (Cobblepot, Colin Farrell’s character), this is something we are talking to HBO about. They are very excited about this idea. And this is something we really hope we can do.
“We have Batman. We have Penguin. And Reeves added: “And who knows what’s next.”
What’s next is actually Batman Part Two, which Reeves is gearing up to shoot in 2025 and release in 2026. This film will continue the story of the Penguin like many Penguins continued the story of Batman, and Reeves acknowledges that ensuring everything was fitting was a tough thing.
Reeves said: “That’s the thing you try to organize in a way that makes the movie transition to the screen.”. “We’re changing the perspective. We’re doing something that we couldn’t really have done on this level in films, and we go on a long journey and delve into the character of Oz, but then we come back to the next film and make it fit into that story. There was a little bit of air traffic control to manage that, but it was all to create the space that would allow us to delve into that character in the way (series director) Lauren (Le Franc) did.
All this means that if a second showing of the bad bat occurs, it seems that it will happen after Batman Part Two. This assumption makes speculation more difficult because, although we know for sure that Penguin is in the movie, we assume that Riddler (Paul Dano), and Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz), and Joker (Barry Keoghan) are also present, it is certain that Reeves will introduce new villains as well. And Batman is sure to have plenty of them to roam around.
Can you imagine, if HBO is interested in exploring another Batman villain in a long form, it must be someone known by name. Since Penguin has had his show and Riddler and Catwoman have been explored in the first movie, who’s left? Will the company dare to present a Joker show after what just happened Joker: Folie à Deux? Is there anyone else big enough?
The speculation below and following Penguin, is currently airing on Max.
