While putting the phone on silent mode is a common practice for many and almost everyone knows how to activate it on Android smartphones, Samsung phones specifically have a secret feature that allows you to activate silent mode quickly without going through the usual steps. Here’s how to activate it to get a feature similar to the ring/silent switch on iPhones.
Typically, Samsung phone users activate silent mode by pulling down the status bar and double-tapping the volume icon from the quick settings panel to activate “silent mode”. While this method does silence notifications like calls, messages, and alerts, it does not mute all sounds coming from the phone.
For complete silence, Samsung phones have another option called “Mute all sounds”, which disables any sound that may come from the phone or simply mutes the speaker temporarily.
You can activate “Mute all sounds” by pressing the power key and volume up button together or by pressing the volume up and down buttons simultaneously. This is a great strategy to silence the phone even when it’s in your pocket!
