Techno Launches Pocket Go Gaming Device
Techno, the Chinese company, has announced the launch of the Pocket Go gaming device through the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. The device stands out as the world’s first handheld gaming computer running on Windows 11, supporting augmented reality technologies, making it a significant point of interest for gaming enthusiasts.
The Pocket Go distinguishes itself with its unique design, which greatly differs from other handheld gaming devices. It consists of a controller unit along with an augmented reality headset called Pocket Vision, enhancing immersion and excitement in the gaming experience.
This device was first unveiled at MWC 2024 and displayed again at IFA 2024, without disclosing pricing details or an official release date at that time.
The Pocket Go controller features an AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS processor, Radeon 780M iGPU graphics processor, LPDDR5-6400 RAM, and M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen4 storage, along with a powerful 50 watt-hour battery supporting 65W fast charging.
The device also includes two USB Type-C ports, a MicroSD UHS-II card reader, as well as ABXY buttons and control sticks resembling those used in Xbox controllers.
The accompanying Pocket Vision headset offers a unique 1080p display experience at 60Hz through built-in Micro OLED screens, providing a view up to 215 inches for an immersive virtual reality experience. The headset includes built-in speakers, a vision adjustment button, and a USB Type-C port.
One of the key features of the Pocket Go device is the ability to connect the controller to screens, TVs, and computers for gaming without using the headset, offering flexibility in the gaming experience. Additionally, the Pocket Vision headset can be purchased separately and used with other devices like phones and tablets.
The device is available with prices starting at $870 for the version containing 512GB of storage and 16GB of RAM, while the advanced version with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage costs $1,050. The headset can be purchased separately for $350.
Techno plans to start shipping the Pocket Go device to users by the end of this year, with sales outside of Kickstarter at higher prices starting from next November.
