Study confirms: Exclusivity of games on PS5 does not negatively affect sales, but rather the opposite!

It is known that releasing games exclusively on one platform reduces their spread among players, prevents them from reaching the largest possible audience, and therefore, limiting games to one platform will affect their sales, right? In fact, this old debate in the gaming industry, while a logical debate, faces tough challenges, and today we have a good example of that.

PlaystationLifestyle website published a new study highlighting the sales of the Silent Hill 2 remake, which was released exclusively on PS5 for home consoles, as well as on personal computers.

The study confirms that the game’s sales are excellent, with 78% coming from the PS5 alone. This indicates from their point of view that exclusivity to PlayStation devices did not adversely affect its performance in the markets, sometimes the opposite happens and the game enjoys strong sales like this example in front of us.

Despite these new factors in the eternal debate, we cannot really close the last page on it, as there was a contradictory incident with the game Final Fantasy XVI, which was initially released only on PS5 and was unable to achieve satisfactory sales for Square Enix, prompting the company to release the game on personal computers. Many believe that the exclusivity agreement is what put the game in a tight spot in terms of sales.

PS5 devices are still strong in the markets after the announcement of the new PS5 Pro version, for which we provided you with a special report on its expected sales: Don’t be surprised if the PS5 Pro fails to achieve massive sales.
