Strategic Changes in Google’s Leadership to Strengthen its Position in Artificial Intelligence.

Google has announced important changes in its leadership structure, as CEO Sundar Pichai announced in a memo to employees the appointment of Prabhakar Raghavan, the Senior Vice President in charge of Search and Ads, as Chief Technological Officer. This appointment is part of Google’s efforts to strengthen its position in modern technology.
Raghavan has been managing Ads and Commerce since 2018, and was promoted to head of Search and Assistant in 2020. This change comes with the assignment of Nick Fox, who was part of Raghavan’s leadership team, to lead Search, Ads, Geographical, and Commerce divisions, reflecting confidence in his competence and ability to guide those departments towards success.
Fox has contributed to the launch of products like Google Fi and RCS messaging service, showcasing his expertise in technology and innovation.
As part of the restructuring, the Gemini app team led by Sissie Hsiao will be merged with Google DeepMind under Dennis Hassabis’s leadership, while the Google Assistant team will join the Platforms and Devices team, contributing to improving coordination and efficiency among different teams.
These changes come at a critical time for Google, as the company seeks to strengthen its position as a key player in artificial intelligence, while facing challenges related to allegations from the U.S. government of search engine monopolization. These steps are necessary for the company’s future and market strategy.
