Sony Offers Exclusive Temporary Deal for Crimson Desert Game on PS5 But It Was Rejected.

Crimson Desert is highly anticipated adventure, action, and open-world game with a single-player mode, developed and published by Korean company Pearl Abyss.
The game is said to be released in the second quarter of 2025 without a specific official date yet, and will be launched simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
A tweet by “@Knoebelbroet” shared a recent rumor, originating from notes of a financial blogger who attended this year’s Kiwoom Securities Corporate Day event.
It is reported that leading company Sony offered a temporary exclusive deal to development and publishing company Pearl Abyss for their upcoming game Crimson Desert, which would exclude the game’s release on Xbox for a limited time, but Pearl Abyss reportedly declined the offer.
The development company indicated in the tweet that they preferred self-publishing as it would bring them more profits and align with their ambitions of launching the game on multiple platforms. Releasing the game on one platform would not generate the same profits as launching it on various consoles and PC simultaneously.
It was also mentioned that Sony noted the environment and main story of Crimson Desert are similar to the game Ghost of Tsushima, which sold over 10 million copies in its history, attracting them to make it a temporary exclusive on the PS5 platform.
It is worth noting that Sony has already entered partnerships with Shift Up and NCSOFT last year, confirming reports that the company is offering deals to many major developers in South Korea, with Pearl Abyss being among the possible partners to link with Sony, further validating the recent rumor.
