Snapchat adds quick shortcut for taking photos on iPhone lock screen.

Snapchat has launched a new feature that allows iPhone users to quickly capture photos directly from the lock screen by replacing the shortcuts for manual flashlight or the main camera.

The new feature works on iPhones running iOS 18, allowing users to open the Snapchat camera with a single click from the lock screen in “camera only” mode. However, sending or editing the photos requires unlocking the phone.

To activate the feature, the user long-presses on the lock screen, then selects “Customize” and replaces one of the default options. This feature joins other options like adding a Snapchat widget to the home screen, or customizing the control button on iPhones 15 and 16.

Apple introduced this feature at their developer conference in June last year, joining other camera apps like Halide that have supported this feature since the release of iOS 18 in September.
