Simple features not available on Google with “Bing” search engine

No matter your level of experience or involvement in the internet field, you will definitely find yourself using search engines, especially Google, almost on a daily basis for various purposes, whether it’s searching for information on a specific topic, finding a specific website, or keeping up with the latest news. Of course, there are many alternative search engines besides Google, and one of the most popular is the “Bing” search engine owned by Microsoft, which holds the largest market share of users after Google, accounting for approximately 70% of users.

If we exclude the details of the search process and displaying results, as well as assessing websites, which vary from one search engine to another, we will find that each search engine may offer some additional features and options for the user, making the search process easier and faster to reach results. Therefore, if you are a Google user, I recommend following this article, where we will highlight the key features of the “Bing” search engine that may give it an edge over Google.

Greater Privacy

Due to the various services provided by Google, the search engine is forced to collect a lot of data and information related to the user and share it with all those services to provide content related to the user’s interests. For example, when continuously searching for a specific hobby on Google, you will find new news articles and related content on that hobby on the search app on your smartphone, or recognizing your location to display weather data in your city. While the goal is to provide a unique service to the user, those concerned with privacy might have to give up these services in order to preserve the privacy of their data. On the other hand, Microsoft does not offer the same level of services and applications, so its search engine does not need to collect a lot of user data or retain it and share it outside the search engine.

Better Image Search

If you are interested in searching for images related to a specific topic, you may face difficulties when searching within the Google search engine and viewing the images from within the engine. You will need to open each image to view it more clearly, then you will find the related or similar images displayed vertically in a sidebar that occupies almost half of the screen space when searching in the browser on a computer. You will need to open each image in that window to view it separately, then close the window and continue viewing the rest of the images in the same way.

However, when searching for images on the “Bing” search engine, the image display is clearer at first glance, and by clicking on any image, a magnified version will appear in a large window with the ability to view related images vertically through arrows to the right and left below the main image. You can also exit that window and return to the search results to view other images.

You can also view any image in full screen by selecting “Full Screen” if some details are not clear or if you want to examine the image up close. Additionally, hovering over any image in the search engine will display the website name and image clarity without the need to open it in a separate window to see that information.

More Options in Video Search

Just like when searching for images, the “Bing” search engine offers a better display of search results for videos. For example, you will find a clear image for each video clip in the results next to the name of the hosting website for the video. If the hosting is on a popular platform like YouTube, you will see the upload date, number of views, and the channel name that owns the video on the platform. Furthermore, hovering over the video allows you to add it to your search results and save it to your account, as well as preview it.

The best part is that by clicking on the video, you can watch it in full screen within the search window, without having to go to the video’s website, such as YouTube. These options are not available in the Google search engine, as Google simply wants you to visit and browse its YouTube site, and therefore, it will not provide you with these options in the search engine.

Goodbye to Annoying Captcha Codes

There are certain actions that, if taken, may make Google suspicious of the user, including intensive searching for a specific thing within a short period of time, which most of us may do at times. Therefore, you may encounter Captcha codes, which contain a puzzle that you need to solve in order for the search engine to ensure that the user is human and not a machine or bot trying to misuse the engine for someone’s account. Although this is a precautionary measure for added security, many users may find it annoying. However, with the “Bing” search engine, you will no longer face this problem.

Customizing the Homepage

Despite the daily notification of important events on Google’s homepage, the page remains in the same general format for a long time, relying on a white background with the word Google and a simple image if the user needs to be reminded of an important event that day. On the other hand, the Bing interface contains many customization options by changing the Bing search engine background every day with a completely new background, which breaks the monotony, especially if you use search engines frequently on a daily basis.

There is also the possibility to customize that appearance by setting a background from previous days’ backgrounds through the arrows at the bottom of the page, as well as the ability to disable the background option altogether and settle for a white interface like Google, and also control the display of search options menu from the main page through the main menu on the homepage.
