Section 31 starts operating in January of this year.
Returning to San Diego Comic-Con, Paramount unveiled our first look at the long-awaited Michelle Yeoh in Star Trek: Discovery Season 31. From the long road of a TV show in its early days, expanding the live broadcast to now an exclusive film titled “Actress, Dove Oscar Winner,” the scenes were expected to stir up a lot of excitement in both cases.
Paramount did not present a more comprehensive promotional clip for Season 31 at New York Comic-Con during the Star Trek universe panel, which paints a clearer picture of Yeoh’s character Discovery – the former Emperor of the Terran Empire in the Mirror Universe, Georgiou, finding herself involved at an exciting time in a very intriguing pocket of Starfleet in the secret police department, Section 31. Instead, they revealed the release date on January 24, 2025, along with a stylish new poster, which you can see below.
The first teaser trailer showcases an astonishing amount of glamour and charm for a film that revolves around an organization with a controversial and dark history in Star Trek traditions, working in the shadowy black ops to compromise its morals in order to protect the noble ethics held by the Federation at large. In the film, Georgiou plays a serious espionage chaos agent, especially since she also has a scattered team standing behind her.
Among those new faces, the big draw will be a new face playing a familiar character: Kacey Rohl as a young Rachel Garrett, captain of the Enterprise-C introduced in the TNG episode “Yesterday’s Enterprise.” This not only gives fans a little bit of canonical plot for the legacy Star Trek discovery series (journeying far into the 31st century future), it also firmly places Season 31 at a time when not only was it difficult to engage Georgiou (even when under pressure from classic films) Star Trek all the way to discovery the distant future in the 31st century), but rarely does the series explore in detail, an emerging era between the events of the original series and the next generation.
We will see the threats facing the Federation that require bringing in Section 31 – and bringing in a wild card like Georgiou as well – when Star Trek: Section 31 arrives on Paramount+ on Friday, January 31, 2025.
