Rumor: Blade Game to Have Reputation System Similar to Infamous Game

In December of last year, the announcement of the game Marvel’s Blade from the developer Deathloop was made, and some believe that it will not be released before 2027.

Today, in the latest episode of the Xbox Lunchbreak Special program, both Mr. Boomstick XL and Fuzzy Belvedere talked about some information about the game, which they claim came from a mutual friend known personally to both. They also stated that their source gave them permission to share this rumor.

The rumor is that Arkane Lyon plans to implement an ethical system or a reputation system in their upcoming game, Blade, and Boomstick compared this mechanism to the morality system in the Infamous games.

However, what Boomstick may have forgotten here is that Arkane Lyon is also well-known for creating their own ethical system. If the typical ethical system of video games is embodied in the game Infamous, which categorizes you as a clear hero or villain based on your actions, while Arkane’s ethical systems are more precise and well thought out.

The Arkane team exemplified this with their video games Dishonored. Whether you play as Corvo or Emily, you move in the shadows and enjoy the freedom to act ethically or not. This means that there was no one holding you responsible for those actions.

But your actions in those games were very prominent to the extent that they could affect the society itself. You may not be labeled a mass murderer because of your actions, but you could make Dunwall more harsh or more harmonious.

As for the character of Blade himself, his personality has always been shrouded in mystery. Eric Brooks learned to work as a lone assassin playing by his own rules, after many of his colleagues turned into vampires themselves, turning them into his enemies.

His background has always been steeped in tragedy, as the vampire Deacon Frost sucked his mother’s blood while she was pregnant with him. This incident that occurred before his birth made him possess some vampire DNA in his genes, and also ensured that he would become their mortal enemy for life.

Fans of the movies have also tasted how “Blade” often behaves in ways that appear evil or wrong, but are justified in the harsh world he lives in.

The only question here, really, is how Arkane can apply the reputation or ethical system to Blade, who already lives in a world steeped in blood and darkness. But this may be the most creative implementation of their ethical system yet.
