Release of Unity 6 game engine with major enhancements and artificial intelligence support
Unity has launched the sixth version of its game development engine, “Unity 6,” introducing a range of new improvements aimed at developing online multiplayer games and mobile projects.
The new release includes browser support on Android and iOS platforms, with graphics performance enhancements and the addition of features that make virtual environments more realistic through global illumination and VFX effects.
In addition to these improvements, Unity has also unveiled the latest version of its dedicated Sentis library for using artificial intelligence models within the engine, enhancing developers’ abilities to seamlessly integrate AI into their games.
Unity faced sharp criticism in September last year after attempting to change its pricing structure, proposing fees for developers for each game download, which was widely rejected by the game developer community, especially in independent circles.
After a series of management changes and downsizing, the company rolled back most of these decisions and completely dropped the controversial fees this month.
