Play PS4 games from any Android device and from anywhere in the world

It seems that Sony wants to keep its users within its ecosystem as much as possible. For example, the PlayStation 4 includes a remote play feature, allowing players or users to play their games with a controller purchased beforehand from a PS Vita or Xperia devices running on the Android operating system. This feature is not supported on other Android devices with different brands.
Recently, the company released an official version of its Remote Play application for iOS, indicating a possible release for all Android users. However, if you don’t want to wait or be disappointed by the app not launching for Android devices, a developer has modified the Xperia Remote Play app to eliminate device verification processes that limit usability. The modifications include removing device ID checks, rooting restrictions, and Wi-Fi network restrictions.

In other words, you can use this app to play your favorite PS4 games on any Android device, whether it has root access or not, and whether you’re connected to the same Wi-Fi network or using mobile data from anywhere in the world. This is the focus of our article today, where we will learn about the app and how to use it step by step.

Requirements:
1. Sony PlayStation 4.
2. Android device running version 4.0 or newer.
3. Enable “Unknown Sources” in settings.
Step 1: Enable Remote Play on Your PS4

To start, you need to enable a setting on your PS4. From the main screen, go to “Settings,” then scroll down and select “Remote Play Connection Settings.”

Here, make sure to select “Enable Remote Play.”

Step 2: Install Modded Remote Play App on Your Android Device

Next, download the modded Remote Play app “Ported PS4 Remote Play” here. After download completion, tap on the notification to run the APK file. At this stage, an Android installation interface should appear, so click on “Install.”

Step 3: Log into Your PlayStation Account and Play Your Games

When you open the app for the first time, Remote Play will ask you to pair a DualShock controller. At the moment, this option will not work, so click “Skip.” Then click “Next” at the top of the screen, and log in to your PlayStation account.

Once done, the app should pair with your PS4 (as long as it’s on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone). You will then be automatically redirected to the game interface. In vertical mode, you will see all the standard PlayStation controls at the bottom of the screen which you can use to navigate the PS4 interface and play games.

If you rotate your device horizontally, the control elements will overlay the full game display. If you don’t interact with the screen, the control elements will automatically hide after a few seconds, but you can reactivate them by clicking anywhere on the screen.

Step 4: Pair Your PS4 Controller with Your Android Device (Optional)

Since the official DualShock pairing solution doesn’t work in this version of the app, you may need to manually pair the controller. To start, press and hold the “PS” and “Share” buttons on your controller, then wait for the light to start flashing.

From here, make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your Android device, then go to the Bluetooth settings menu and click “Pair” at the top of the screen to search for nearby devices. Select “Wireless Controller” when it appears, wait for the controller to show up in the “Paired Devices” list, and then you can use Remote Play games with the DualShock controller.

Step 5: Modify APN Settings for Mobile Data Playback (Optional)

As mentioned earlier, this version of Remote Play can be used over mobile data to play games from anywhere in the world, but it requires some setup. To begin, go to the phone or tablet settings menu, look for “Access Point Names” or “APN,” and click on the top result. Click on the settings icon next to your existing APN, then enter all the information in this menu, and you may need to take screenshots of the APN settings for reference.

Next, return to the main APN menu, click on “Add,” enter all the information from your existing APN except for two fields. In the “Name” category, type “PS4,” and for the “APN Protocol” option, choose IPv4 instead of IPv6. After that, return to the main APN screen, select the “PS4” profile, and restart. At this point, you should be able to play any of your PS4 games over mobile data from anywhere in the world.
