Perplexity Launches Its Original Application for Mac Devices with Advanced Search Services
Perplexity, a company specializing in AI-powered online search technologies, has announced the launch of the first native macOS app, specifically designed for Apple Mac computers.
The new app allows Mac users to access advanced search capabilities based on artificial intelligence, making it easier to use advanced search features directly from the computer without the need for a browser.
The app features advanced Perplexity capabilities, such as the “Pro Search” feature tailored for deep searching, as well as the ability to search using voice instead of typing. Additionally, the app provides instant updated answers based on advanced AI models like GPT-4o and Claude 3, with all results sourced from reliable references with citations, enabling users to access them as needed.
Conducting conversations is a key feature of the app, allowing users to ask follow-up questions while maintaining the context of previous inquiries. Furthermore, the app includes a “Library” feature that stores previous search queries and inquiries, with custom shortcuts for quick access to different app options.
Subscribing to Perplexity Pro costs approximately twenty dollars per month or two hundred dollars annually, providing subscribers with additional benefits such as access to six hundred professional searches daily, along with the choice of different AI models and diverse search results, with the ability to analyze uploaded files like PDFs and images using advanced models.
The free version of the app remains available to everyone with daily usage limits, allowing users to conduct five professional searches per day, as well as the “Quick Search” feature for basic searches.
Users can now download the app for free from the Mac App Store, and it is also available for iPhones, iPads, and Android devices, with expectations for another app launch for Windows-operated computers.
It is worth mentioning that OpenAI also released a free version of the ChatGPT app for Mac devices months ago, reflecting companies’ interest in providing applications that support AI usage on multiple operating systems.
