Payment Required to Listen to Your Enemies’ Steps “with Greater Precision” in Black Ops 6

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will feature paid audio profiles at launch, allowing players to enhance their tactical hearing capabilities through customized character profiles that enable players to listen to their enemies’ footsteps and locate their positions.
It is no secret that getting the right audio settings is a vital element in every Call of Duty game. The ability to hear approaching enemy footsteps, as well as differentiate them from your teammates, is a key factor in defeating the enemy and ensuring victory in team matches. Black Ops 6 works to improve all of the above through many new audio upgrades.
The shooting game utilizes a new feature called Enhanced Headphone Mode, which relies on Embody’s Immerse Spatial Audio technology to increase the accuracy of sound direction and is compatible with any headset or earphones, greatly enhancing the player’s spatial sound experience. However, Black Ops 6 also includes the option to pay for a personalized audio profile through Embody, causing confusion and controversy in the community.
As explained in the Call of Duty blog post, players can further enhance their audio experience by creating a personal profile that “takes into account the player’s physical attributes, such as ear or head shape.”
The company behind the enhanced headphones in Black Ops 6 has stated that a universal profile is available for all players for free, featuring precise sounds with perfect balance of each explosion and footstep, players also have the option to purchase a personalized profile for $19.99 USD tailored for individual players and available for 5 years with a one-time payment.
The purchase of the personal profile depends on personal preference and is by no means a payment element for winning as the feature is available to everyone through a universal profile, but for those who want a more customized experience, it can be purchased on the Embody website on Steam or Battle.net, while PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S users can make the purchase within the game.
Unfortunately, this feature seems to be unavailable in the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Black Ops 6.
