Payday 3 Developer Admits Disastrous Launch and Declares Not Giving Up

In a new interview, the Starbreeze team, developer of Payday 3, admitted to the game’s poor launch and unexpected performance, but at the same time stated that they will not give up and will try their best to bring the game back to the top.

Series director Almir Listo conducted an interview with PCGamesN to talk about Payday 3 as a brand, the game’s performance, its importance to the team, and their aspirations for the future. The director acknowledged the game’s failure on behalf of the development team, but also affirmed their determination not to give up.

According to the director, the game faced numerous technical issues during development that the development team could not address, so they launched the game and attempted to fix some core issues through post-launch updates. This initial decision led to a disastrous launch. The director stated:

“When you have a disastrous launch like we did where no player can even play the game, there’s nowhere to hide, but it’s important now not to make any excuses, but to resist as much as possible and not give up completely. There’s still a lot for us to do.”

It is worth mentioning that the second installment of the game received many average to excellent reviews, with satisfactory sales, prompting the development team to work on the third installment which unfortunately did not achieve the same success as the second. Will the game make a comeback?
