OPPO reveals dedicated camera button in Find X8 series

Oppo is preparing to launch its flagship Find X8 series by the end of the current month in China, with expectations of reaching global markets by 2025. The company is focusing on enhancing the photography experience in this release by adding a dedicated camera button, which closely resembles the control button on Apple’s iPhone 16.

Oppo has announced this new button that provides users with easier and more precise control over photography. The button requires two consecutive presses to open the camera app, while on the iPhone, it opens with a single press. This feature caught the users’ interest after Find’s product manager at Oppo, Cho Yibo, revealed in a video on Weibo the unique functionality of this button.

In addition to opening the camera app, the button provides the feature of zoom control by dragging, making photography more stable and giving users greater ease in controlling various shooting modes. However, the company has not disclosed whether the button will be capable of opening other apps as is the case with the iPhone 16.

Apple’s camera control button relies on force and touch sensitivity, allowing users to navigate camera settings such as zooming and focus lock with a light press. With dragging, additional settings like exposure and depth can be adjusted. In contrast, Oppo may provide a similar experience with some of its own modifications in its new button.

Oppo is expected to reveal all the details regarding the Find X8 series during the official launch event on the twenty-fourth of October, where the full picture of the new features the company offers will become clear.
