OpenAI stops dozens of malicious campaigns exploiting artificial intelligence technologies

OpenAI, a leading company in artificial intelligence solutions, has announced its success in stopping several fraudulent campaigns that were using its technologies for malicious purposes. The company mentioned that in 2024, it was able to thwart over 20 fraudulent campaigns around the world, with these campaigns varying in methods and objectives.

Reports indicate that some scammers attempted to exploit OpenAI’s products to improve malicious software, while others used the company’s technologies to create fake content such as articles or biographies for social media accounts, and even fake personal images. Despite these attempts, OpenAI did not report any significant progress by threatening parties in using its technologies harmfully.

As part of its ongoing efforts, OpenAI affirmed that it continues to monitor any unauthorized exploitation of its systems, especially in the crucial 2024 election year, which witnesses electoral activity not only in the United States but also in other regions around the world.

Among the notable campaigns stopped by the company was one run by a group called “Zero Zeno,” an Israeli company that attempted to influence elections in India, as well as intervene in political issues related to the wars in Gaza and Ukraine. OpenAI succeeded in ending this campaign in less than 24 hours.

Furthermore, another campaign was revealed and stopped just before the European Parliament elections in June 2024, which targeted elections in France, Italy, Poland, Germany, and the United States. However, all of these attempts failed after OpenAI’s intervention and blockage.
