New WhatsApp Button that Changes the Way Video Calls are Made and Will be Available in Individual and Group Chats
It seems clear that Meta is adamant that WhatsApp should become a video calling service on par with Teams or Zoom. In recent weeks, a series of new features have been unveiled to enhance the video calling experience. Among these improvements, filters and backgrounds have stood out. But WhatsApp is preparing to make a more professional change: video call links.
Thanks to WABetaInfo, the plans for WhatsApp are now known. Specialized media have analyzed the latest beta version of the WhatsApp app for Android. This is version 2.24.19.14, the version that revealed these innovations prepared by Meta for WhatsApp.
What was discovered in this beta version is the ability to create links within WhatsApp to then be able to make video calls. These links will work for video calls between two people and for group video calls.
To create one of these links, you just need to open the dropdown menu for WhatsApp attachments. At the end of the menu, you will find a new shortcut called “Call Link.” By clicking on this icon, a dropdown menu will open where you will find the call link. The user can copy this link and paste it into any conversation or group, but they can also send it directly to the conversation or group where it was displayed.
This feature is really useful for organizing video calls, you just need to get this link and click on it to start this type of call within WhatsApp. In fact, it can be particularly interesting at a work level.
Company profiles abound within WhatsApp, and now they have a tool for making video calls without the need to enter WhatsApp. This link can be shared through other means such as email messages.
Currently, this feature has only appeared in the beta version for Android. WhatsApp has not commented on anything regarding its release, so we will have to stay informed to know how this process will progress. In the coming weeks, we may see this innovation in the stable version of WhatsApp.
