My experience with the Silicon Power 3.1 32GB flash drive

We previously reviewed our practical experience and tests with the USB 3 flash drive 4 years ago. It has now become a common technology in our current time. Today, there is a newer technology, USB 3.1, and since we live in an evolving era, direct USB 3.2 technology has emerged. One of the fastest data transfer ports these days is USB 3.1. There are indeed flash drives supporting this technology, and all modern motherboards now support USB 3.1 ports. So, if you have a relatively modern motherboard, you will have other ports with this technology. Therefore, I purchased a USB 3.1 flash drive and want to share the experiments, tests, and complete experience with you. Let’s follow along together.

Notice that in this article, I will be transferring data to and from an NVMe hard drive to fully test the flash drive’s strength.

The flash drive I purchased with this technology is Silicon Power 3.1 32GB for only 225 EGP / 13 USD. I did not have many options as the place I bought from did not have any other brands with this technology, so I bought the technology, not the brand.

Of course, I installed the flash drive on the USB 3.1 port in my case to get the highest performance. I will conduct tests using the CrystalDiskMark program, and as you can see in the image above, the read speed is 131 MB/s. As for the write speed, it is 23 MB/s, which means that when transferring files from the flash drive to any other hard drive, it reaches 131 MB/s. When transferring files to the flash drive, the maximum speed will be 23 MB/s.

The high write speed is not satisfactory for me, despite the good read speed. USB 3.1 technology reaches higher rates than that, so it is strange, and maybe there is an issue with the flash drive or perhaps the manufacturing quality of this flash drive is problematic.

In general, I will try in the future to obtain a flash drive with this technology and higher quality to review it for you. However, overall and in comparison with the price, this flash drive is good and not bad.
