Most in-demand phone features according to AnTuTu users

Now that we are already in the third quarter of the year, AnTuTu, the famous Chinese benchmark platform, considered this the perfect time to review the evolution of Android smartphones in the first half of 2022.

Therefore, after sharing its ranking of the top 10 smartphones in June, AnTuTu has now published a report on the key specifications of the majority of Android smartphones sold in the second quarter of the year. According to the measurement company, the standard Android system features 8GB of RAM, a Qualcomm processor, and Android 12 operating system.

AnTuTu researchers first analyzed the screen sizes of the mobile phones marketed in the second quarter of 2022. In this section, 6.7-inch displays were the most common, with a market share of 33.4%, representing a 2.8% increase compared to the first quarter. This was followed by 6.4-inch phones with a market share of 15.4%, making them second in popularity with a 13.2% increase from the first quarter.

Regarding screen resolution, 1080 pixels remain the standard with a global market share of 53.2%, slightly down from 53.5% in the previous quarter. The market share of 1440-pixel mobile phones decreased in the second quarter, moving from 2.3% in the first quarter to 1.6% in the second quarter.

When it comes to screen refresh rates, the 60Hz refresh rate is still the most common with a market share of 50.1%, although 120Hz has become more popular. In the second quarter, 36.4% of smartphones sold had this refresh rate.

In terms of processor brands, Qualcomm continued to dominate the smartphone market in the second quarter of 2022 with a market share of 65.2%, up 1.2% from the previous quarter, while MediaTek ranked second with a market share of 18.2%.


When it comes to Random Access Memory (RAM) size, the most common option is still 8GB with a market share of 38.1%, followed by 6GB with a market share of 27.2%, and the platform closes with 4GB of RAM with a market share of 16.5%. It’s worth highlighting the increase in the purchase of 12GB RAM phones, which now hold the fourth position with a market share of 10.6%.

Analyzing the internal storage of the smartphones sold in the second quarter of 2022, the preferred memory option remains 128GB with a market share of 48.9%, followed by the 256GB version with a market share of 28.8%, and in third place, the 64GB option with a market share of 15.6%.

Finally, in terms of the Android version, the majority of mobile phones sold in the first quarter of the year were running Android 12 as the operating system, specifically at 52.1%, representing a 25.8% increase from the previous quarter.
