– Start of the Conference

The conference started with Tim Cook, who first reviewed Apple’s strength with impressive numbers such as:
  • Apple Music has reached 17 million users.
  • The Apple App Store has had 140 billion app downloads so far.
  • Apple Store generates twice the revenue of its competitor, Google’s store.
  • It is noticeable that the most apps in the Apple Store are games, with about 500,000 games.
  • Speaking of games, Tim Cook made a surprising announcement that the most famous game in history (Super Mario) will be available in the Apple Store.

Therefore, the president of Nintendo was invited to talk about Mario, and it was announced that it will be available on IOS10, then to other stores by the end of the year (holiday seasons).
– Apple and the Education System

Tim Cook returned to the stage and announced Apple’s decision to develop the education system by launching the ConnectED service, which aims to connect schools with students, currently serving 114 schools with 4,500 teachers and 50,000 students.

A new initiative related to students was also revealed under the title “Everyone Can Code” as part of the Playground system, which will be released with IOS10. Susan Prescott, Vice President of Apple’s Product Marketing, also stepped up to talk about a new feature added to the iWork service, which is collaborative editing on files allowing multiple users to edit the same file at the same time on Mac, iPhone, iPad, and web together.
– Apple Watch

Tim Cook returned to the stage again to talk about the highest revenue-generating watch among smartwatches, second only to Rolex among traditional watches overall.

Jeff Williams, in charge of the Apple Watch project, then announced the second generation of the Apple Watch, adding a new version made of white ceramic alongside the stainless steel, aluminum, and gold versions. The key feature of the new watch is its water resistance up to 50 meters, with added features for swimmers to track calorie consumption, laps, and other details relevant to swimming enthusiasts. The speaker in the watch is used to expel water after swimming, and Apple improved the S2 processor to be 50% faster, enhanced the screen brightness to work efficiently under sunlight, and added a standalone GPS feature to the watch.

The Apple Watch also gained support for the popular game Pokemon Go without the need to open the app on the iPhone. The starting price of the new watch is $369, while the previous version with some new improvements starts at $269.
– iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

Tim Cook returned to the stage once again to talk about the best-selling device in history, the iPhone, which has more than 1 billion users. He briefly mentioned iOS 10 and then announced the time to talk about the iPhone 7. Apple presented a short video about the iPhone 7 as an introduction.

Then Phil Schiller, Apple’s marketing director, revealed that the iPhone 7 has 10 entirely new features.

• Design – The design comes in a new color, Jet Black, with the Apple logo on the back made of stainless steel, hiding the antennas away from the traditional line of the device. Additionally, there are four additional colors: gold, rose gold, silver, and matte black.

• Home Button – The home button has new enhancements, the most important being more responsiveness and speed, with the reinforced touch feature allowing developers to modify the touch vibrations.
• Water Resistance – Apple added the feature of dust and water protection with an IP67 protection rating to the iPhone 7.

  • Camera – The camera remains at 12 megapixels as in the iPhone 6s, but with a 3x improvement in exposure levels and lens aperture for brighter photos. The camera consists of 6 internal lenses, and for the flash, it is now quad and provides 50% more light. Apple also introduced a new technology called IPS to analyze and enhance images.
  • The image sensor is 60% faster and 30% more efficient, and the front camera is now 7 megapixels. As for the iPhone 7 Plus, it has two 12-megapixel cameras, one with a wide-angle lens and the other with a Telephoto lens known to professional photographers. Apple added the new optical zoom feature x2, which does not affect image quality, and the traditional zoom is now up to 10x.

    • Display – Apple made the display brighter and better at displaying colors, operating with cinema-quality standards.

    • Sound – Apple announced that the new iPhone is characterized by speakers on the edges and top and bottom of the device, making the sound voluminous and doubled in intensity.

    • Headphones – Apple announced the removal of traditional headphones, with no headphone jack in the new iPhone. The charging port will serve as the only port for headphones, including wireless headphones through the Lightning feature. Apple also added an adapter for using traditional (wired) headphones with the phone as well.

  • Wireless – Certainly, the previous feature didn’t appeal to me, what if someone wanted to use headphones and charge their phone at the same time? That’s why Apple produced wireless Airpods earphones, which work for 5 hours without charging and 24 hours with the availability of the earphone case, which acts as a charger for the earphones. The fast charging feature is supported, where 5 minutes of charging can work for 3 hours. The price of the earphones is $159, which is certainly a high price. Watch this video for more information.

  • Apple Pay – The Apple Pay system received a new update to add new countries, including Japan.
  • Processor – A new processor called A10 Fusion was introduced, with 4 cores, two of which perform 40% better than the previous version, and the other two cores monitor performance and power needs, operating with only 20% of the power. This ensures that the processors will work as needed only, making the iPhone 7 120 times faster than the first iPhone. Apple stated that the A10 Fusion processor with these capabilities is the most powerful processor in a smartphone. Regarding the battery, Apple stated that the new iPhone lasts two hours longer in calls than the iPhone 6s, and an additional hour longer than the iPhone 6s Plus.
