It seems that the “game resuming” feature on the PS5 has disappeared forever.

Last week we talked about the malfunction of the “Resume Activity” feature in PS5, and we thought it was a temporary glitch. But it seems that this assumption was wrong.

Users began noticing the disappearance or malfunction of the feature since last month’s system update, but after the update released yesterday, we are now certain that Sony intentionally disabled it.

After the new PS5 update, we expected a fix for the issue and reactivation of the feature, but according to Playstation Lifestyle, instead of that, the Activity Cards settings were redesigned after the complete removal of the resume game feature, with Sony replacing it with the “Play Game” feature.

The new feature will allow you to start the game from the home screen instead of resuming play from the stopping point, as was the case with the Resume Activity feature, which is frustrating for many users.

Many PS5 users may not have heard or even noticed the Resume Activity feature, which can be accessed through activity cards for each game, allowing users to return to the game from the stopping point rather than the main menu. This led Sony to completely remove it from the system.

This feature was similar to the Quick Resume service available in Xbox Series devices, although the latter has better performance and quality than the resume game feature that was available on PlayStation 5 devices. Perhaps Sony has a plan to bring a better feature, as is the case with Xbox devices.

In any case, although the PS5 operating system lacks some small features, it also has many other features that make usability easy and smooth. As Sony continues to update the system and bring more of these features from time to time, we believe that there is still a lot in Sony’s bag to bring to the system during the remaining lifespan of the current generation.
