It seems that the film industry will be inspired by the video game industry.
There is a hidden competition behind the scenes between the gaming industry and the film industry, to the point that we all remember how Joseph Fares, the director of games known for his mockery of Hollywood, mocked the Oscars at one of the Game Awards events in his own unique way.
Today we have reached a stage where the cinema industry is emulating the gaming industry, how is that?
Recently, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organizing body of the Oscars, asked filmmakers and studios producing them to reveal their upcoming projects, and to present segments about the behind-the-scenes of the industry and any exciting events or stories about their projects they are working on. Just like The Game Awards. The reason is the decline in viewership of the Oscars in recent years. This is to inject new content and events into the ceremony to attract more audiences to watch.
Video games no longer suffice with The Game Awards or the DICE Awards in 2021, but now they extend to include the Oscars. In 2021, we learned that the Titanfall developer was the first gaming studio to win an Oscar, for the documentary film Medal of Honor. But it is noteworthy that while we witness a decline in Oscars viewership, the Game of the Year event sees a significant increase year after year.
Journalist Frank Pallotta from CNN tweeted in that year that the Oscars viewership before two days was 9.8 million, down 58% from the previous year. To illustrate how the Oscars viewership has declined, he posted viewership figures from 2014 to 2021 as follows:
JUST IN: The Oscar averaged 9.85M viewers on Sunday. That is an all time low by a sizable margin and down 58% from last year.

On the other hand, journalist Benji-Sales, specializing in video game news, compared the viewership rates of the Oscars above and the viewership of the Game of the Year event held annually in December. The observation was that while Oscars viewership declines annually, the Game of the Year awards attract more viewers each year. So, do you think Joseph Fares was right in his famous statement?

Also worth noting this is a comparison of average viewers (Oscars) vs Total viewers (TGAs) which skews things
It’s just the decline / rise of the two I more wanted to point out. It’s a stark difference and shows while one show is appealing more each year the other is dropping
