How to Translate Text on Images Using Google Chrome
Sometimes you may come across an image containing text written in a foreign language, or find text in Chinese or Hindi in a PDF file, whatever the case may be. The first problem in such a situation is that you don’t even know what language the text is written in, but you are curious to know its content and meaning. The second problem is that even after knowing the language in any form, it may be difficult to retype this text in an external file and then translate it using any of the available services, and you may have to change the keyboard language and search for matching letters.
Away from all this hassle, you can use programs that rely on OCR technology to extract and translate text automatically, which are widely available if you search online. But if you are using Google Chrome browser on your computer, there is no need to search, as the browser supports a great feature for extracting text from images and translating them to any language easily. Let’s explore it with you starting from the following lines.
In the latest versions of Google Chrome browser, the “Google Lens” feature has been integrated, which analyzes any image to search for similar images or recognize the contents of the image using advanced artificial intelligence technologies from Google. This feature has many important uses, some of which we have previously reviewed in an article titled [6 Amazing Features of Google Lens], including the ability to read QR codes and fetch their contents without the need to install software on the computer or use the phone’s camera. Also, if you want to translate text written in a foreign language on an image, you can use Google Lens to find out the meaning of this text in English, Arabic, or any language you master!
First, the image containing the text must be displayed inside Google Chrome browser. If the image is stored on your computer in JPG or PNG format, you can display it inside the browser by opening Google Chrome and then dragging the image file into the browser window, and the program will immediately recognize the image path and display it in front of you. If the image is already displayed on a website, there is no need to perform this step.

Once the image is in front of you inside Google Chrome browser, right-click on it and choose “Search image with Google Lens.” A side window will appear where the selected image is sent to Google Lens service to recognize its content using artificial intelligence and display similar images, suggesting extracting or translating the text.
Three options will appear below the image on the left side. These options are “Search,” “Text,” and “Translate.” If you click on the last option, select the language you want to translate the text into, and within moments, the text written on the image will be recognized and translated inside the image itself, as shown in the attached image above. This way, you can at least understand the content of the text on the image, even if the language it is written in is unknown to you.
