How to share mouse and keyboard between multiple computers?
Note: There must be an internet connection between all these devices.
In an example where there are two computer devices, one is a desktop connected with a mouse and keyboard, and the other is a laptop, and I want to share the mouse and keyboard with the laptop and control it through them. Some may say that the laptop has its own internal mouse and keyboard, so there is no need for external ones. However, here the laptop is just an example, as this method can work with any other regular device.
Now, we need to download the program Mouse without Borders and then install it on the device that has the mouse and keyboard first, which we will consider the main device and name it SAMEH here.
After installing the program, we click on the icon to open the program, and a window specific to the program appears. Here, we focus on a specific feature we will do here and do the opposite with other devices. We choose No here only because we want the program to give us a main code and the username for the main computer here so that we can use it later to connect with other devices.
We see that the program has indeed given us a code consisting of numbers and letters, and the username for the device with the mouse and keyboard is SAMEH. Now we temporarily leave the main device and go to the other device with its username, which is SAMEH2016 and it is the laptop. We install the program on it, then we select Yes to display another window.
We write the main device’s code and username here on the laptop in the same way, with uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers as they are, then press Link, and then follow the same steps on both devices until we see the word Done, thus the connection and sharing between the two devices are established.
As we can see in the following image, the successful linking and sharing process between the two devices is confirmed with a message, and we continue to click Next until we see the word Done as mentioned before.
Finally, in the main device SAMEH, a different window appears and at the same time, this window also appears on the laptop. In this window, we see the following:
- The type of internet card for the main device.
- The code.
- The main device’s screen.
- The laptop screen, which we can control by moving the mouse over it or clicking on it to control the laptop through the main device. We also see that we can add any number of devices as well.
- Changing the arrangement and display format of the screens from horizontal to vertical.
- Apply to execute any steps we can take to connect and more.
- To get a new code and start over.
- To close the window.
At the end, we have learned about this simple method and the fantastic program offered by Microsoft for sharing both the mouse and keyboard between multiple computers with the condition of having internet to connect between them of course. You can share as many devices as you want, and see you in upcoming lessons. Thank you.
