How to Reset the “Ad ID” on your Android Phone

For those of us who see Google ads while browsing websites, you may wonder how to know the advertisers of the content that interests you. Advertisements are about companies offering fun, amazing, and useful applications and services to users. Your Android device contains a lot of information about you that advertisers use to create custom profiles for your daily use on your Android device in order to provide targeted ads. If you want to get rid of targeted Google ads, you will need to reset your “Advertising ID” because there is no option to turn it off completely.

For those who do not know what an Advertising ID is, it is a unique and anonymous identifier on Android devices whose primary and only function is advertising. The Advertising ID works very similar to “cookies” in web browsers, tracking your activity and sometimes selling it to display “customized” targeted ads that are expected to click on.
Because you cannot disable the Advertising ID, you will need to reset it so that a large amount of information about your activity does not accumulate. This will require advertisers to update your profile and delete the previous profile. To reset the Advertising ID, follow these steps:
The first step you need to take is to go to “Settings” and search for “Google,” then look for the “Ads” option and click on “Reset Advertising ID” displayed at the top of the screen. Click “OK” in the confirmation window, and your device’s Advertising ID will be reset.
If you do not want app developers to access your data, you can disable “Customized Ads” so that advertisers cannot share your data. To do this, click on Settings again, choose “Google” from the menu, look for the “Ads” option, and click on enabling the “Opt Out of Ads Personalization” option.
Once you disable personalized ads, the ad service will ignore the Advertising ID of your device, but ads will still appear, although they will not be based on your activities. On the other hand, the appearance of ads related to your interests cannot be considered a bad thing, but rather a small part of protecting your privacy.
