How to open multiple windows of the same program on Windows without using software
When we run a specific program on Windows, it usually opens within a dedicated window. However, there are times when you may need to open multiple windows on the screen for the same program. For example, if the program deals with personal accounts, you may need more than one window to log in with different accounts. Sometimes you may also need to open multiple windows of a program like Word to write and create multiple contents or work with multiple pages at the same time. However, most programs do not support such a feature; however, in this post, I will share some methods that will allow you to open multiple windows for the same program without using any external tools.

First method: – Using the Shift button
I think the traditional way to open multiple windows of the same program is to press the program’s executable file several times, with each press a new window opens. However, this method does not work with most programs. Instead, there is a much easier way to open multiple windows for open programs. Simply press and hold the Shift button on the keyboard and then left-click on the program’s executable icon in the taskbar, and with each click, a new window of the same program will open as shown in the image above. This method has been tried and works on many programs like Word, Notepad, and Google Chrome, but it does not work on other programs like Skype because it requires an independent process of its own and not just another window.
Second method: – Run the program as a different user
Every time you run a program on Windows, a new process belonging to this program is opened directly within your user account. This means that if you have more than one account on the system, you can run the same program multiple times as a different user. This method works with almost all programs whether Skype or others, you will be able to open multiple windows for the same program in this way and easily. All you have to do is follow the following steps to create another account:
- Press the Windows button + letter i together on the keyboard.
- From the Settings window that appears, go to Accounts.
- From the side menu, click on Family & other people.
- Then on the right side, click on Add someone else to this PC.
- From the window that appears, click on the option I don’t have this person’s sign-in information.
- Then click on Add a user without a Microsoft account.
- In the User name field, write the account name, and do not forget to set a password. If you do not set a password, this method will not work.
Then, press Finish, and thus a new account has been created on the system. This account will not require you to log in, as we have created it just to run programs that need to be opened in more than one window.
Now, whenever you need to open a specific program with multiple windows, press and hold the Shift button on the keyboard + right-click on the executable file of this program, whether from the desktop or from the taskbar, and then you will see a list of choices among them the option Run as different user, which you will click on to open another window, where you write the username and password we set during the account creation process, then click OK. Instantly, another window of the same program will open on the device without even having to log in to the new account.
Please note that the window that will open is related to the new account and not related to the current account, so if the program includes login information such as Skype, the program will run as if you had just installed it on the computer for the first time, meaning you will need to re-enter the login information and deal with it as a program on another computer.

Third method: – Using built-in properties in the program
Unlike the previous Windows-specific methods, most programs have this option built into them, allowing you to open multiple or isolated windows. For example, internet browsing programs like Google Chrome, Firefox, and Opera, allow you to open another window called “Incognito browsing.” In Google Chrome, if you click on the user name at the top, you can see the Guest option, which allows you to open a completely isolated window from your stored data on the browser for using it to log in to guest accounts or similar uses. Therefore, you can search within the program you want to open multiple windows from, and you may find an option that allows you to do this.
