How to open multiple apps at the same time on Samsung phones

Samsung offers many features in its smartphones to take advantage of the large screen size, especially in the Note phones specifically. Additional functions such as One-Handed mode and “Multi Window” allow you to navigate through the operating system like a multitasking student who studies a lot! The Multi Window feature is not new at all, but it is very useful for people who want to watch some videos while browsing or doing other tasks on the phone. Samsung is one of the first companies to introduce the Multi Window feature on their smartphones, so learn how to use it if you are using a Samsung phone through the following lines.

As the name suggests, Multi Windows allows you to open multiple application windows on your main screen, just like opening programs on a computer, where you can minimize these application windows, move them to other applications, and with one click, they will be ready to present content to you. -Added function that adds a lot of flexibility, especially on screens with a large aspect ratio.

Despite that, Samsung did not stop there, as you can also create a quick shortcut to open two applications with one click from the Edge panel. But to be more clear, those using a Galaxy Note phone with an S Pen will find it more useful due to the precision of the S Pen and its large screen for more flexible navigation between multiple app windows.
Here’s how to use the Multi Window feature on all Samsung Galaxy phones.

How to enable Multi Window for an application

Samsung has integrated the Multi Window feature into the multitasking menu and unlike “One-Handed mode”, there are no gestures to enable or disable Multi Window. All you need to do is open the application you want to use in a pop-up window> click on the open button of the open application windows> then click on the application icon from the top to show a pop-up menu> click on Open in pop-up view or “open on pop-up view”, and it will create a floating application window for the selected application. This allows you to continue using the application as before and also view the content you were looking at on the screen.
The Multi Window feature is not limited to creating floating application windows only. You can also minimize them, control their transparency, use them in full-screen mode, and even resize application windows according to your preferences. Follow the steps below to use these actions.

First, Minimize and maximize multi windows

Once you create an application window using the Multi Window function as explained earlier, you will notice a small indicator at the top. Click on it and select the inward arrow symbol to minimize the application frame and place it in the top right corner, where you can press and hold it and place the application icon anywhere on the screen. As for enlarging the application window, at any time, you can exit the Multi Window display and expand the application in full-screen mode by clicking on the outward-facing double arrows to expand the frame. You can also manually control the size of the frames by dragging their edges to expand or shrink.

Second Change the transparency of the multi windows

As we are accustomed to Samsung’s real style, the additional Multi Window function is feature-rich. For example, you can control the transparency of the application when using it in multi-window mode. After you create an application window and click on the small indicator at the top, select the transparency symbol, which is the second symbol among the tools, and use the scroll bar to maintain transparency in the position you want. By default, it is set to the highest level. However, you can decrease it to create a transparent effect.

Third, Close the pop-up display window

When the application is open in Multi Window, you can minimize it using the trick mentioned above. From there, simply drag and drop the application icon at the bottom “Remove” and close it. You can also use more than one application in multi-window display; so you can add as many applications as possible in the multi-window display. Once minimized, they will be stacked under one application icon on the screen. You can click on it and expand the list.
While most applications support the Multi Window feature, the additional function is missing from some applications like social media apps such as Instagram and Snapchat. So you won’t see the option to open in the pop-up display when clicking on the application icon in the multitasking menu yet!

Fourth, Open in split-screen mode

This is a newly added feature that allows you to open two applications together, each taking a section of the screen, one at the top and the other at the bottom of the screen. After opening an application window within another application frame, simply click on the split square symbol within the frame to activate the feature immediately. You can also add this dual operation for two applications to the side edge panel, so you can run them in split-screen mode directly with a single click.
In fact, these are features without limits, somewhat difficult to explain, but once you try and experiment, everything will become smoother and more flexible than before, especially in a multitasking era!
