How to get the blue verification badge on Facebook profile.
Getting the famous blue badge has always been interesting for users of the most popular social network “Facebook”, not only because it confirms the user’s ownership of the account, but also because it makes the profile stand out from other accounts as it accompanies the account name permanently even in post comments. So, it’s not surprising that “Adam Mosseri” – the CEO of Instagram – states that the most frequently asked questions to him are related to how to verify accounts. Many users want to get the attractive blue verification badge that adds value and weight to their accounts; as those who have these badges are real individuals, and you may think they are distinguished in some way or have done something extraordinary to get this badge, but did you know that all they did are simple steps — you can also do it and verify your account on Facebook in one of the two official ways, which we’ll show you below.
Requesting the Blue Badge on Facebook
First: Why do you need to verify your account on Facebook?
It is well known that Meta platforms, previously Facebook, are filled with many fake accounts, even accounts managed by AI bots impersonating real people, in addition to the frightening advancement of artificial intelligence alongside the weak customer service provided by Facebook and Instagram. For this reason, Meta introduced a service to verify profiles and pages for its users, which will benefit them in three main ways all centered around verification, and these benefits are: obtaining the verified blue badge, as having this badge alone gives any account a special allure that makes others trust it. In addition to protection against impersonation thanks to the “Proactive Account Monitoring” feature that uses artificial intelligence to detect and thwart any attempts to impersonate your identity.
Furthermore, when verifying the account, you will have technical support from a real person at Meta to help you solve any problems you may face with your account or business activity on the page. It is also said that if you verify your account, it will appear more to other users both in comments or recommendations, and of course when someone searches for you.
Second: Official Ways to Verify a Facebook Account
Meta provides two ways for individuals interested in verifying their personal accounts or public pages, and they are as follows:
First Method: Fill out the Verification Form [For Pages and Accounts]
This is the traditional method since Meta introduced the idea of verifying personal accounts and public pages several years ago, where you need to apply to get the verification badge for a personal profile or page if you are a public figure, celebrity, or brand. You don’t need to pay any fees, you just need to go to the Verification Form and fill in the specific details to verify your personal profile or page.
According to Meta, several factors are taken into account when evaluating pages and accounts that apply for verification through filling out this form, such as making sure that the page or account represents a registered person, business, or known entity that is highly searched for. Therefore, while filling out the form, you need to provide a means of identification to Facebook such as a driver’s license, passport, government ID, or company registration certificate. It is also preferred to include the link to your official website or your Instagram profile or your account on platform X (previously Twitter) or links to articles published in your name on well-known platforms to confirm your fame, knowing that paid or promotional content is not considered as a source for review.
Once you fill out the form and click “Submit”, it will take a few hours to evaluate and review the provided data. You can track the status of the request and also find out if the account meets the criteria for the verified badge and if the verification request has been approved, through the “Support Inbox” page. If the request is declined, you won’t be able to submit another request until 30 days have passed since the first request.
Second Method: Subscribe to Meta Verified Service[For Accounts Only]
For personal account holders who wish to verify their account and obtain the blue verification badge instantly, they can subscribe to the Meta Verified service, which was introduced in mid-2023. This service is a paid subscription for eligible personal profiles to solidify their presence on both Instagram and Facebook, resembling to some extent the X Premium service (formerly Twitter Blue) where the user pays a monthly fee to get the verification badge along with other features.
When subscribing to Meta Verified, you will immediately receive the blue verification badge on your profile and it will appear in comments next to your profile picture, in search results next to your name, in private messages, and also in the Reels and Stories on Instagram and Facebook. Additionally, proactive impersonation monitoring will be activated where Meta will not allow another account on Facebook to use the same name and picture combination as yours, in addition to providing 24-hour technical support for common account issues, allowing you to communicate with a real person at Meta via live chat or email. The subscription also includes providing exclusive stickers that can be used in Stories and Reels with 100 monthly stars that can be awarded to content creators on Facebook as a form of support.
As for the subscription price, Meta has priced its account verification through this service at $12 per month (equivalent to 250 Egyptian pounds) when paying through the web version, while the price goes up to $15 (310 Egyptian pounds) when paying through the Facebook app for Android or iPhone, and this increase compensates for the commission deducted by both Google and Apple for in-app purchases. Please note that these prices vary from one location to another, and you can subscribe to the service with up to two personal profiles (one on Facebook and one on Instagram) at a reduced price of $28 (equivalent to 520 Egyptian pounds) when subscribing from the app.
In addition to the monthly fees imposed by Meta, in order for your account (whether on Facebook or Instagram) to qualify for verification through Meta Verified, certain conditions must be met, such as having your account display your full or dual name that matches naming standards and including a profile picture that clearly shows your face. The account should not be new, or at least should have an activity record that can be referenced, and the two-factor authentication feature should be enabled, and your age should be 18 years or older. You will also need to verify your identity to Facebook by submitting a driver’s license, passport, national ID card, etc., and video selfie verification may be requested to further confirm the match with your profile picture in your account — this process may take up to two days.
To subscribe to the service, open the “Facebook” app while ensuring you are using an updated version of the app, then go to the profile page by tapping on the menu button ( ☰ ) in the bottom bar (on iPhone) or top bar (on Android), then tap on your profile name, then tap on the menu button (⋯) next to the “Edit Profile” button. From the next screen, tap on the Meta Verified option. Click on “Next” and select the profile you want to verify, then click on “Single Profile Subscription”.
Then click on “Pay to get benefits” to pay the required fees and verify the account. You should know that you can cancel your subscription to the service at least 24 hours before the next payment date, and if you cancel your subscription after verification has already been completed, you will not be eligible for partial refunds, in addition, after paying the fees, Facebook will ask you to confirm your identity by submitting one of the identity confirmation documents mentioned above, and then you will receive a response from a company representative within 48 hours. If you are unable to confirm your identity after payment, Meta will refund the fees within a maximum of two months.
