While watching a video on YouTube, you may come across a page, image, or text within the video that you want to copy and quote in an article or share online. However, you would normally need to retype this text in another program such as Notepad or Word in order to copy it, which can be time-consuming, especially if the text in the video is lengthy. Fortunately, you can now easily copy text from YouTube videos with the help of a browser extension that we will discuss in this article, saving you the hassle of rewriting the text.
This browser extension is called Copyfish, available for Google Chrome and Firefox. It allows users to extract text content from images, PDF files, or even videos on YouTube using OCR technology to detect and extract the text easily. Once you have installed the extension on your browser, whether it’s Google Chrome or Firefox, you need to adjust some settings. Right-click on the extension icon next to the address bar and select “Options” from the menu to access the settings page. In the settings page, you can set the input language for the extension to Arabic and choose other languages as needed for text extraction.
Now you’re ready to use the extension. Simply open an image, PDF file, or YouTube video containing the text you want to extract. Pause the video at the scene with the text, click on the extension icon next to the address bar, and start the extraction process by selecting the portion of the video that contains the text you want to copy.
After selecting the text, a Copyfish window will appear where the extension will recognize the text from the video. The extracted text will be displayed in the OCR Result box, and you can use options like “Redo OCR” to re-scan the text if needed, “Recapture” to select a different portion of the video, and “Copy to clipboard” to copy the extracted text for pasting elsewhere.
